Dr. Brian R. Smith is the President and Chief Pilot of the Tuskegee Airmen National Museum. He leverages a distinguished engineering career, including pioneering research at General Dynamics on battlefield-induced injuries, to lead the museum. He earned a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Wayne State University, becoming the first African-American to do so.
Brian is deeply committed to community leadership and mentorship, having served as the Director of a local youth club for 35 years. This passion extends to his current work, where he actively leads youth programs in aviation and STEM, personally flying over 1600 young people to inspire their interest in the field.
