Cheryl Gomez-Smith

Cheryl Gomez-Smith is the Senior Vice President of Upstream at Imperial Oil, bringing over three decades of global leadership experience from ExxonMobil. Her expertise spans operations, safety, and risk management across the US, Russia, and Kazakhstan. She holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Tulane University.

Her interest in engineering was sparked at a young age by her father, a maintenance foreman, which inspired her to pursue a career focused on technology and solving real-world problems. She is a scheduled panelist on the topic of women in operations leadership for the 2025 Young Women in Energy Summit.

Unique Fact: She previously served as the President and Managing Director for ExxonMobils extensive operations in Kazakhstan.
