Deke Letson is the Founder and Executive Director of Veterans Exploration Therapy, a nonprofit he created based on his own experiences. As a 10-year U. S. Army combat veteran who served two tours in Iraq, he leverages his Wilderness First Responder skills and an education from Red Rocks Community College to lead his organization.
After facing his own significant challenges with PTSD and transitioning to civilian life, Deke discovered the healing power of outdoor activities. This personal journey inspired him to establish his nonprofit to help other veterans and their families find community and purpose through shared wilderness experiences like hiking and rock climbing.
His organization, Veterans Exploration Therapy, was initially conceived as a class project while he was attending college.
