Erika Stoerkel is the Regional Health Services Supervisor for Gunnison County, where she focuses on community health improvement and behavioral health initiatives. With a Master of Public Health, she also serves as a grants coordinator for the West Central Public Health Partnership, coordinating health services across several counties in West Central Colorado.
Erika has a strong background in health and psychological wellness research, exploring how integrative, non-pharmacologic approaches can improve patient outcomes. Her work has included developing self-care resources that utilize mind-body techniques like meditation and relaxation to reduce patient distress and improve quality of life during medical treatment.
She co-authored research on the effectiveness of a self-care toolkit designed to mitigate distress for breast cancer patients undergoing surgery.
