Erin Goley is a Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her lab focuses on bacterial cell division, morphogenesis, and how bacteria adapt to diverse environments, with a particular interest in pathogens responsible for tick-borne diseases. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
Beyond her research, Erin is a self-described "serial hobbyist," with knitting being a long-term passion; she has even knitted stuffed versions of the bacteria she studies. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her two children, and her colleagues and students frequently highlight her supportive and rigorous mentorship.
Interesting fact: Erin was named a Fellow of both the American Society for Cell Biology and the American Academy of Microbiology.
