John Matteo

John Matteo is the Principal at Matteo Ferran Structural Engineers, leveraging nearly three decades of experience in preservation engineering. Educated at Princeton and Tufts, he specializes in historic structures, working on landmarks like Frank Lloyd Wrights Fallingwater. He also serves as a lecturer in Civil & Systems Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.

His professional life is deeply intertwined with academic pursuits and leadership within preservation societies. He actively contributes to the field by serving as a juror for engineering awards and participating in committees for organizations like the Association for Preservation Technology International.

He was a 2011 Rome Prize Fellow, where his research focused on using the structural design of Romes Pantheon as a paradigm for contemporary engineering and architecture.
