Phils passion for music and technology began early, leading him to study at Stanfords Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics. He was the bassist in a rock band and now serves on the Board of Trustees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
He co-founded Liquid Audio in 1995, one of the pioneering companies to securely distribute and sell music over the internet.
