A native of Sydney, Nova Scotia, Spyro is deeply involved in his community, serving on the Cape Breton Regional Heritage Advisory Committee. This commitment to local affairs extends to past roles with various boards and committees, reflecting a strong dedication to heritage and community development in his home region.
