Stephen Hamilton is a Professor Emeritus of Human Development at Cornell University and an independent scholar focused on youth development and education. A graduate of Swarthmore College and Harvard University, his career has emphasized the transition to adulthood, particularly through work-based learning, mentoring, and service-learning to promote educational equity.
After a 41-year career at Cornell, he now consults on projects promoting youth apprenticeship. His extensive research in the US and Europe informed the School-to-Work Opportunities Act of 1994 and is captured in his books, including "Apprenticeship for Adulthood" and "Career Pathways for All Youth.
