Dr. Thomas Davies is a distinguished conductor and professor emeritus from California Polytechnic State University, where he served as Director of Choral Activities and Vocal Studies from 1983 to 2017. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Southern California and received Cal Polys Distinguished Teacher Award in 2011.

He is the long-standing music director for the San Luis Obispo Master Chorale and has conducted internationally. Davies lives in Pismo Beach with his wife, Susan, who is a pianist and vocalist, and they have two sons, Peter and Andrew. He creates a "family" setting for his students, many of whom are non-music majors.

He co-founded Cal Polys annual Bach Week, an event celebrating the composers work.
