Tim Rocktäschel is a Director and Principal Scientist at Google DeepMind, leading the Open-Endedness Team. Concurrently, he is a Professor of AI at University College London, heading the DARK Lab. His award-winning research focuses on artificial general intelligence, self-improving systems, and reinforcement learning, with a PhD from UCL and a Dipl. -Inf. from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
Outside of his primary roles, Tim is a published author of the book “Artificial Intelligence: 10 Things You Should Know. ” He is a frequent keynote speaker and podcast guest, discussing topics like artificial superhuman intelligence and the future of AI development. He is also passionate about democratizing AI research beyond large industry labs.
He is a proponent of not optimizing for conference papers, but rather focusing research on exciting, long-term North Star goals.
