His personal life is deeply intertwined with veteran support, serving as the Tournament Director for the R. Lee Ermey Memorial Golf Classic, which aids homeless veterans. A 6th and 7th generation Texan, he lives in Frisco with his wife and son, and has chaired the Frisco Gold Star Family Monument program.
Unique fact: He was the first Marine commissioned as an officer from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
