Derrick Cherry, Ph. D. , is the Customer Renewables Manager at Alabama Power, where he leads the development of renewable programs for residential and commercial clients. With a Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University, his expertise spans transmission planning, grid interconnection, and distributed energy resources, built over a long career with Alabama Power and Southern Company.
He is passionate about giving back to the community, particularly through STEM education. Derrick serves as a mentor for Mississippi State Universitys IMAGE program, which supports minority students in graduate education, and is a member of the universitys Electrical & Computer Engineering Advisory Board.
