Garrison Settee is the Grand Chief of Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO), representing 26 northern First Nations. A former teacher and school administrator with a Bachelor of Education, he is a gifted orator and a strong advocate for the North, focusing on education, economic development, and Indigenous rights.
Originally from the Pimicikamak Cree Nation, he was raised in a Cree-speaking home. In his spare time, he enjoys reading non-fiction history books and biographies. He is a vocal supporter of community initiatives, including youth hockey programs and Indigenous language preservation, reflecting his deep community ties.
Unique fact: He has represented MKO at United Nations meetings in Geneva to discuss Canadas treatment of Indigenous people.
