The son of missionary teachers, John spent part of his youth in West Africa and developed a love for sports and the outdoors. He now enjoys spending time with his wife, Paige, and their daughter, Rachel, at their rural farm near Tappahannock, Virginia.
He grew up in West Africa, where his parents built churches and schools for the local population.
