Dr. Kate Garrity is an Assistant Professor at Michigan State Universitys Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. As a registered dietitian and intervention scientist, her work focuses on advancing food security and health equity through community-engaged research. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
Inspired by her grandmother, Kate has a passion for cultural exchange and has been involved with the IFYE (International Farm Youth Exchange) organization since age six. She participated in an exchange program herself, traveling to India to immerse herself in the culture and learn about local life.
Her passion for cultural exchange is a family tradition; her grandmother participated in the same program in 1956.
