Mark Girolami is the Chief Scientist at The Alan Turing Institute and the Sir Kirby Laing Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Cambridge. With a PhD and a decade of experience as a Chartered Engineer at IBM, he is a global research leader in data science, statistics, and machine learning applied to engineering.
Outside of his academic and research roles, Mark is an avid cyclist and a connoisseur of fine dining, having visited all Michelin 2 and 3-star restaurants in the British Isles. He is also a caregiver to three cats.
He is an elected fellow of both the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
