Markus Leuenberger

Markus Leuenberger is the Rector of the Regionales Gymnasium Laufental-Thierstein, a position he assumed in August 2023 after eight years as Vice-Rector at Gymnasium Oberwil. With a background as a French and Italian teacher and noted for his IT skills, he focuses on organizational development and guiding his schools digital future.

Drawing from his career as a Romanist, Markus shows a deep appreciation for language and cross-cultural understanding. In his leadership, he emphasizes creating an environment of coexistence built on goodwill and respect, viewing the school not just as a place of learning but of community.

Markus leads a school that offers a unique bilingual German-French baccalaureate program in partnership with a school in another canton, a testament to his focus on innovative education.
