Matthew Self

Matthew Self is the President of North Florida Shipyards, Inc. , a role where he leverages his Mechanical Engineering background from Marquette University. He leads the company in ship repair, conversion, and modernization for both government and commercial clients, focusing on strategic expansion and operational excellence.

Matthew is passionate about fostering future talent for the maritime industry. He actively supports local STEM initiatives and has spoken publicly about the critical importance of training and developing the next generation of skilled shipbuilders to meet modern challenges.

He recently oversaw the acquisition of a new 8, 500-ton drydock, significantly expanding the shipyards capacity to service larger vessels.
