Michael K. Powell is the President & CEO of NCTA – The Internet & Television Association, and the former Chairman of the FCC. He has built a distinguished career at the intersection of technology, public policy, and law, focusing on expanding broadband access and navigating the communications industrys digital transformation. He holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
Son of the late Secretary of State Colin Powell, Michael is a former U. S. Army armored cavalry officer. He continues a life of service by sitting on several non-profit boards, including as Chairman of the Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees and Vice Chairman of Americas Promise Alliance, reflecting a deep commitment to community and healthcare.
His military career was cut short after he was seriously injured in a jeep accident during a training mission in Germany.
