He and his wife, Kim, run Barnes Team Media, providing on-camera coaching and presentation training. He holds a Bachelor of Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin and previously worked at KVUE-TV for over 29 years.
Inspired by caring for his own parents, Mike co-founded "Parenting Aging Parents," a resource hub and community for caregivers. He is a husband and father who values family and finds motivation in his Christian faith. He is affectionately known by his family as “Clark Griswold” for his love of planning unique family road trips.
During his sportscasting career, Mike was named "Best in Austin" 17 times and won multiple Associated Press awards.
