A University of California, Berkeley alumnus, his career includes foundational roles at CrowdStrike, kernel development at Apple for iOS, and work with the Canadian governments public sector cybersecurity.
Outside of technology, Alex is a significant philanthropist in Montreal, his adopted city. Through the OVI Fund - Ionescu Family Foundation, he and his wife have made multi-million dollar donations to cultural institutions like the Orchestre Métropolitain and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts to make arts more accessible.
He began programming at age six and developed a passion for operating system design after a catastrophic hard-drive failure.
