Avi Kivity

Avi Kivity is the CTO and Co-founder of ScyllaDB, a high-performance NoSQL database. A renowned developer, he is the creator of the Seastar C++ framework and is fluent in C++, Java, and Python with deep expertise in I/O systems and virtualization. He studied aeronautical engineering at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.

Based on older interviews, his personal interests include reading, listening to music, playing backgammon and table tennis, and going to the movies. He has also previously taken up snowboarding.

Unique fact: He is the original creator of the KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) hypervisor, which is now the standard virtualization solution built into the Linux kernel.
