Charles Young is the Acting General Counsel and Principal Deputy General Counsel for the Department of Defense. His career began as an AH-64 Apache attack helicopter pilot in the Army before he attended law school. He previously served as General Counsel for the National Guard Bureau and was recently confirmed as General Counsel of the Army.
He is a married father of three; his two daughters and a son who has followed in his footsteps as an Army Captain and AH-64 pilot. His military service includes deployments for humanitarian aid during Hurricane Katrina and to Iraq to work on Rule of Law issues.
