Dr. Knut Finstermeier is the Head of Bioinformatics at the Max Planck Unit for the Science of Pathogens, where he works with CRISPR pioneer Emmanuelle Charpentier. He has deep expertise in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and computational biology, with a Ph. D. from the Max-Planck Research School and a focus on medical research and pathogen science.
He is fascinated by how biological systems work, an interest that has guided his career from evolutionary anthropology and ancient DNA research to his current focus on pathogens.
