Dr. Fatemeh Tabatabaei serves as the Head of the School of Astronomy at the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM). Her research focuses on the interstellar medium, magnetic fields, and star formation in galaxies, utilizing multi-wavelength observations. A graduate of The University of Bonn, she is a recognized expert in radio astronomy.
Outside of her primary research, Dr. Tabatabaei has a history of engaging in science outreach. Early in her career, she was involved in organizing night sky tours and meteor-shower observing campaigns for the public, demonstrating a long-standing passion for sharing astronomy with a wider audience.
She developed a novel method to separate thermal and non-thermal components of radio continuum emission, significantly advancing the study of galactic magnetic fields.
