Dr. J. D. McDermott serves as the Surgical Director of the Sports Medicine Institute at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. He specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee, and holds a medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, traveling, exercising, and playing golf. His extensive involvement as a team physician for multiple local colleges and a minor league baseball team highlights his passion for supporting local athletics.
He is the team orthopaedic surgeon for the Hub City Spartanburgers, a High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.
