John Banovetz is the Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, and head of Environmental Responsibility at 3M. He leads the companys global R&D and sustainability efforts, drawing on his Ph. D. in chemistry from Stanford. His career includes extensive technical and business leadership, including managing 3Ms operations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Outside of work, John is a family man who enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He is passionate about outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, and fishing. He is also actively involved in his community, serving on the boards of several Minnesota-based nonprofits and foundations.
From 2021 to 2024, he served on President Bidens Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).
