John is the founding principal of Fifield Piaker Elman Architects, where he leads the firms residential design practice. With a Master of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, he specializes in the renovation and restoration of historic and landmarked buildings and is a LEED Accredited Professional. People often describe him as "wonderful to work with" and "inspired. "
Outside of his architectural work, John is active in his community, having served on the Board of Trustees for Earthplace, an environmental museum and education facility in Connecticut. He has also supported the arts, previously serving as Treasurer for the contemporary art space Franklin Street Works.
John was the architect for the award-winning renovation and expansion of Martha Stewarts famous former home, Turkey Hill.
