Login to view DISC.Kim Engelen is a cross-disciplinary contemporary artist and writer whose work explores themes of human connection, communication, and self-development. An international artist who has lived in six countries, her art is featured in private collections across Europe, the USA, and China. She holds MFAs from Lund University and California College of the Arts.
Outside of her studio practice, Kims art is deeply influenced by her immediate environment and personal encounters. She is interested in the contrast between intimacy and distance, and home versus dislocation. Her international experience, from the USA to China, continually nourishes her personal and theoretical approach to her creations.
Unique fact: In 2022, Kim undertook a project to create 100 "Confession Drawings" during 100 separate YouTube live streams, blending performance art with personal revelation.
