Matthew Tovey

Dr. Matthew Tovey is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, where he also serves as Clinical Director and Chief Clinical Information Officer. A graduate of the University of Nottingham, he holds multiple leadership roles, including Co-Chair for the Quality Network for Prison Mental Health Services at The Royal College of Psychiatrists, driving improvements in psychiatric care within the justice system.

Dr. Tovey is passionate about enhancing the quality of mental healthcare, especially for prisoners, and is a strong advocate for leveraging digital technology to improve patient outcomes and staff wellbeing. His work bridges the gap between frontline clinical needs and technological innovation, and he has a particular interest in ensuring digital inclusion for vulnerable populations.

He once considered becoming a paediatrician but was inspired to pursue psychiatry early in his career and notes that if he hadnt become a doctor, he would likely have been a barrister.
