Michael Yip
Login to view DISC.Michael Yip is an Associate Professor at UC San Diego, where he directs the Advanced Robotics and Controls Laboratory. His work, which has earned multiple best paper awards, focuses on surgical robotics, autonomous systems, and AI in healthcare. He holds a PhD in Bioengineering from Stanford University and is a co-founder of Channel Robotics.
His passion for robotics extends beyond academia, stemming from his past experience as a Walt Disney Imagineer where he worked on animatronics. In an interview, he advised students to pursue their interests and passions outside of coursework, a philosophy that has clearly guided his own career in blending creative and technical challenges.
