Rafal Modrzewski

Rafal Modrzewski is the CEO and Co-founder of ICEYE, where he has pioneered the miniaturization of SAR satellite technology. An expert in SAR engineering with multiple patents, he scaled the company from a university project into the operator of the worlds largest SAR constellation. He studied at Warsaw University of Technology and Aalto University.

Originally from Poland, Rafals professional journey is rooted in pan-European collaboration, having co-founded ICEYE in Finland after participating in an Erasmus student exchange program. He is a proponent of leveraging technology for global challenges and emphasizes the importance of a unified European approach to space, security, and technology.

The company name, ICEYE, originates from its initial concept: using satellite technology to monitor Arctic iceberg movements to improve shipping safety.
