Bob Day is the Chief of Police for the Portland Police Bureau, a role he assumed in 2023 after being asked to return from retirement. With over 29 years of law enforcement experience, his leadership has spanned training, operations, and crowd management. He holds a Bachelors from George Fox University.
Outside of his official duties, Bob is the founder of "Reluctant Change, " a consultancy focused on leadership and curiosity. He has also directed strategic initiatives for The Red Door Project, leading workshops to foster dialogue between law enforcement and the community on topics like race and justice.
After a distinguished 29-year career culminating in his retirement, he was asked to return to lead the entire bureau as the 51st Chief of Police.
