Rory OConnor

Rory OConnor is the AUKUS I&A Director of Strategic Communications at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). A veteran communications leader, he has extensive experience in public affairs, congressional relations, and internal messaging for the U. S. Navy. He holds a Masters degree in History from Louisiana State University.

Outside of his professional role, Rory possesses a deep and abiding passion for history, the subject of both his undergraduate and graduate studies. His academic research focused specifically on American Civil War history, reflecting a strong interest in this pivotal period of the nations past.

He began his career as a speechwriter for a two-star Admiral overseeing the Navys submarine programs, applying skills from his history degree to a highly technical field.
