With over 25 years of experience, Shane is a relational child and youth care practitioner currently serving as the National Practice Lead for VOYCE - Whakarongo Mai. He is dedicated to advocating for children in statutory care, leveraging a background that includes nursing and a Master of Science in Child and Youth Care Studies.
Of Scottish and Norwegian descent, Shane is an active participant in his local Waka Ama (outrigger canoe) club, Kaingaru. He uses this passion to connect with and educate young people about Māori culture and navigation, combining his community involvement with his professional mission.
Following the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes, he co-designed the rebuilding of a childrens home alongside the children and young people themselves.
