Simon Lacoste-Julien

Simon Lacoste-Julien is an Associate Professor at the Université de Montréal and a core faculty member at Mila. He also serves as the VP and Lab Director for the Samsung AI Lab in Montreal, bridging the gap between academic theory and industrial application in machine learning. He earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.

His research focuses on the foundations of machine learning, including large-scale optimization, probabilistic models, and generative models. He is actively involved in training the next generation of AI talent through his academic and industry leadership roles.
