Stephen Van Dine

As City Manager for the City of Yellowknife, Stephen Van Dine leverages over 30 years of public sector experience, specializing in financial planning, strategic policy, and public administration. His career is deeply rooted in Northern and Arctic initiatives, with previous leadership roles at Parks Canada and Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada. He holds an MPA from Queens University.

Stephen demonstrates a profound professional and personal commitment to Canadas North, having grown up in the Northwest Territories. His work reflects a dedication to sustainable development, reconciliation, and addressing the unique challenges of Arctic communities. He is actively engaged with the Toronto Metropolitan University Senate and serves on the board of a non-profit organization.

He has led numerous major federal Arctic initiatives, including the establishment of Polar Knowledge Canada and the transfer of land and resource management responsibilities to the Government of the Northwest Territories.
