Tom Acker is a Sr. Principal Research Engineer at Salt River Project, focusing on innovation for the ongoing energy transition. An Emeritus Professor of Mechanical Engineering from Northern Arizona University with a Ph. D. from Colorado State University, he brings decades of academic and research experience in renewable energy systems to his role.
Outside of his direct research, Tom is passionate about education and equity in the energy sector. He is the board President for a non-profit focused on clean energy education and has led university projects to increase the participation of underrepresented minorities in STEM and the energy industry.
He once led an international effort for the International Energy Agency, studying the integration of wind and hydropower.
