Wouter van Eck is a leading pioneer of the Dutch food forest movement. He co-founded the renowned Food Forest Ketelbroek in 2009 and the national foundation, Stichting Voedselbosbouw Nederland. With a background in political science from Radboud University, he is a key figure in promoting agroforestry and regenerative agriculture in the Netherlands and beyond.
His lifelong passion for nature began in childhood, evolving into a career dedicated to uniting agriculture and ecology. Inspired by tropical forest gardens, he transformed a barren cornfield into a biodiverse oasis. Wouter is a committed activist for sustainable living and notably does not own a car, preferring to live close to his work.
He recently won the Groeneveldprijs 2025 with chef Emile van der Staak for their joint work in "botanical gastronomy. "
