Amber Mollhagen is the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs at the University of Houstons Graduate College of Social Work. An alumna of the university with both an MSW and a PhD, she leverages over 20 years of experience to lead student recruitment, admissions, and support services for the college.
Her career is rooted in a deep passion for social work, which she describes as feeling like "home. " Prior to her academic roles, she gained extensive experience in community service, including providing bereavement support at Bos Place, working with Head Start families at BakerRipley, and as a medical social worker in a hospice.
She was inspired to pursue social work by a volunteer she knew who provided support for the AIDS/HIV community in the 1990s.
