Bernie Higgins M.I.Fire.E, MIFSM, MIISRM, TechIOSH
Commander · DISC type DA former Deputy Assistant Commissioner with a 33-year career in the London Fire Brigade, Bernie now leads ROAR UK Ltd. He is a key figure in European fire safety, chairing both British and European standards committees for firefighting equipment, and holds a First Class Honours degree in Psychology.
Outside of his professional life, Bernie is a huge rugby fan who follows the Six Nations and the British Lions tour. He has a passion for public safety education and a personal interest in learning about Eastern cultures, spirituality, and mental discipline through travel to India and the Far East.
Bernie introduced the National Inter-Agency Liaison Officers (NILOs) to the UK, a now-established role that bridges the communication gap between agencies at critical incidents.
