Carlos Torres-Verdin is a distinguished Professor at The University of Texas at Austin, holding two endowed chairs in Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering. A PhD graduate from UC Berkeley, he is an expert in formation evaluation and geophysics, and is the founder and director of the universitys longest-standing industry research consortium.
He is passionate about innovative teaching methods that foster critical thinking and promote diversity and inclusion. Outside of academia, Carlos has been actively involved in his community, serving as president of a neighborhood alliance to address local environmental and quality-of-life issues.
He founded and directs the longest-standing research consortium within both his department and the entire Cockrell School of Engineering at UT Austin.
