His career includes over 100 combat missions, four space shuttle missions, and now leadership at The Charles F. Bolden Group. He earned a B. S. from the U. S. Naval Academy and an M. S. from USC.
Outside of his distinguished career, he is a family man who credits his parents for instilling the values of hard work and persistence. An avid swimmer and football player in his youth, he maintains a passion for inspiring young people, particularly in STEM fields, and emphasizes the importance of teamwork and not being afraid of failure.
Unique fact: To secure his appointment to the U. S. Naval Academy, he wrote directly to President Lyndon B. Johnson as a high school senior.
