Cheng Chi is the Co-founder and CTO of Sunday Robotics, building its full-stack robotics team. Holding a PhD from Columbia University, his expertise lies in robotics, machine learning, and computer vision, with prior experience at Toyota Research Institute, Nuro, and Apple.
Cheng is passionate about advancing robotic capabilities and democratizing data collection. His work reflects a deep interest in creating general-purpose manipulation systems and pushing the boundaries of what autonomous systems can achieve, collaborating with institutions like Stanford and Toyota Research.
He co-developed the Universal Manipulation Interface (UMI), an open-source, low-cost system designed to make robot data collection widely accessible.
