Clare Scherer MBE

Clare Scherer is the Chief Executive Officer of the Naval Childrens Charity, leading the organization in its support of naval families. Her career began in theatre as a lighting designer after studying engineering at the University of Exeter. In 2023, she was awarded an MBE in recognition of her services to naval families.

Outside of her professional life, Clare has a background rich in the arts, having traveled the world as a theatre lighting designer. Her personal experience as a single parent informs her deep empathy and dedication to the families her charity supports. She previously established the West Sussex branch of a childrens bereavement charity.

She transitioned from a successful international career as a theatre lighting designer to becoming a leader in the non-profit sector.
