Dr. Claudette Lajam is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Langone, serving as System Chief of Orthopedic Quality and Safety. She specializes in hip and knee replacements, revision surgery, and surgical innovation. A graduate of Cornell University and Mayo Clinics residency program, she holds numerous leadership roles, including on the AAOS Board of Directors.
A first-generation Dominican-American from Queens, NY, Dr. Lajam is a vocal champion for underserved patient populations and health equity. She has served on medical missions to Haiti and the Dominican Republic and volunteers with her husband on a Community Emergency Response Team in Westchester County, NY.
She was the first female surgeon in the world to perform a robot-assisted partial knee replacement.
