Dr. Lydia Pettis Patton is a highly experienced leader in municipal government, celebrated for being the first female City Manager in Portsmouth, VAs 263-year history. Holding a Ph. D. from Virginia Commonwealth University, she now serves as an executive manager with the Berkley Group, taking on interim city manager roles.
Outside of public administration, she is a published author on the topic of parenting and is deeply committed to youth development. Dr. Patton has served as a motivational coach for a high school football team and is frequently described as a civic leader, mentor, and motivator dedicated to inspiring young people.
In 1986, she and her family were recognized as a "Great American Family" in a White House ceremony by President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan.
