Jannie Oosthuizen is the President of Mercks U. S. Human Health, the companys largest global business. A pharmacist by training from North-West University, he has extensive international experience leading strategy, P&L, and commercialization. His visionary leadership was instrumental in the successful launch of the cancer immunotherapy Keytruda®.
Originally from South Africa, Jannie has lived and worked in six countries across five continents with his wife and three children. He is deeply committed to environmental conservation and has a history of community engagement, including early career work helping to establish halfway houses for people living with schizophrenia.
In August 2024, Jannie was awarded an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, North-West University, for his exceptional contributions to the international health sector.
