Joël is the Managing Partner and co-founder of Ysios Capital, a leading European life sciences venture capital firm. An accomplished entrepreneur, he co-founded Glycart Biotechnology, which was later acquired by Roche. He holds a PhD in Cell Biology and Immunotherapeutics from ETH Zürich.
Originally from Switzerland, Joël grew up in Barcelona and now considers himself more of a businessman than a scientist. He is committed to fostering the biotech ecosystem in Spain and Europe, believing that diverse teams deliver superior results and have a greater impact on society.
Unique fact: He co-developed Gazyva, the first-ever drug designated as a "Breakthrough Therapy" by the FDA, which has since received a second breakthrough designation.
